Fishing

In communities around lake Basotu, fishing activity dominates life. Men from surrounding areas often flock to the lake shores during high seasons to benefit from this reliable source of food and extra income. 

Illegal fishing in the Lake Mayara Biosphere reserve has taken place in the past but in recent history instances of this problem have been reduced significantly due to effective law enforcement.
